Volunteer Spotlight on Alina’s Jewelry Art Class
Individual expression through art highlights the beauty of diversity and the power of human connection. Volunteer Alina Krone shares that gift by volunteering at DakotAbilities. “I truly believe getting to work with the people supported by DakoAbilities is a privilege, and spending time with them is not just my favorite thing about volunteering here, but one of the best parts of my week,” says Alina.
“I truly enjoy working with people and think DakotAbilities (Day Services) is an amazing program. There are several important people in my life who would benefit from being supported by a place like this, so when I found out about DakotAbilities, I reached out to see how I could get involved. At the time, they were doing the CreatAbility Art Project. I got started with that, then asked if I could continue once that was completed, and here we are.”
Alina helps people make bracelets, necklaces, and keychains. “I like to gauge what they have an interest in and go from there, getting beads they will like. It is awesome working with them near a holiday because they want me to help them make gifts for others, and I love that I get to do that.”
Alina’s advice to someone considering volunteering is, “Do not hesitate to volunteer. If you are considering it, it is for a reason. I have never regretted any time spent volunteering.”
An abundance of volunteer opportunities awaits you at DakotAbilities, from playing games to gardening or sharing your special talents with the people we support.
