POET invited our actors to share a production with their employees. So, on May 2, after weeks of hard work, the actors debuted their newest play, Rockin' Robin Hood to a full house at POET. The performance ended with a lengthy standing ovation. Thank you, POET for this opportunity!
The play was repeated on May 7 at Longfellow Center to a Standing Room Only house.
The people we serve who participate in theater productions find they develop greater self-confidence and communication skills. They also experience self-satisfaction. Following the last performance one actor approached his father who was in the audience. "Are you proud of me?" he asked. His dad responded with a huge hug.
Mark C. played Robin Hood and was is shown with Rosie Linsner of The Black Hills Playhouse. Our theatrical performances are part of our Meaningful Day activities. Productions are made possible through your donations and grants from the South Dakota Arts Council. They are a collaboration between DakotAbilities and The Black Hills Playhouse whose direction, writing, and all-abilities program make the performances successful.

The audience at POET clearly enjoyed the show and demonstrated it with their smiles and hearty applause. See what some POET employees had to say:
"I came. I saw. I laughed. I loved it! Thanks to each and every one who supported this terrific event."
"THANK YOU for everything you have done to make the play possible today. I was overwhelmed with emotion at one point when they started it. It was then I realized how blessed I am to work for a company that is open to opportunities like this."
"The play was fantastic, but mostly it was so enriching to see how excited the actors were just to perform for us. It looked like being there made their day, but I hope they know that it made our day even more so. We were blessed to be able to take in such a special thing."
