This one's for you!

You give so much to DakotAbilities that we want to return the favor. During this strange time of isolation you might be running out of ideas to keep occupied, fulfilled, and sane. In this issue we are sharing ideas with you that come from our residential homes. If you have great ideas for us, please share!

House Bingo

All of our homes have been challenged to participate in House Bingo throughout April. The game encourages good nutrition, fun activities, art projects, and healthy habits. Use our chart or make up your own. Some homes have given every day of the week a theme for dressing up such as PJ Day and All Red Day.

Many are discovering that they enjoy planning and creating their meals. Consider sharing a favorite recipe with a friend or start at recipe exchange.

Getting outside when the weather is nice is important for everyone. Sunlight provides us with vitamin D which is good for our mood and boosts our respiratory systems.

Art Smarts

Now is a great time to dust off that instrument that's been in the closet too many years or even try your hand at a new one.

Have you ever written a song? If not, try it now. Just think of a tune you like and rewrite the words to reflect how you currently feel. Who needs online celebrities for inspiration?

Keep a daily photo journal of your activities to never forget this historic time of our lives

Go to the Birds

Regularly visit a birdcam. You get to watch nature happen on live cameras. Click on the image to go to a site with several options.

What do Charles Dickens and Mitch Albom
have in common?

Charles Dickens published his novels through monthly and weekly periodicals. Now, Mitch Albom (Tuesdays With Morrie) has created his first installment of a novella based on our current COVID-19 life. It is an uplifting story about life on one small town corner during the whole pandemic called, Human Touch. He plans to put out a new installment weekly. Download Part One here.

We hope you are safe and healthy and are discovering joy in each day. We invite you to let us know how you are surviving these unique days.
